Questions agents ask
- Where does this data come from?
- From CMS: the 2026 and 2027 Medicare Advantage and Part D Landscape files, which list every plan filed in each county with its premium, maximum out-of-pocket and drug deductible, and the Plan Benefit Package files for the medical deductible.
- What does “not renewing here” mean?
- The plan ID is filed in the county for 2026 but not for 2027. Carriers sometimes renumber or merge plans, and when they do, members are usually moved to another plan automatically. The client’s Annual Notice of Change says exactly where they will land.
- Does the premium include Part B?
- No. The premium shown is the plan’s own monthly premium. Clients still pay the standard Part B premium unless a plan has a Part B giveback or Medicaid pays it.
- Does it compare copays, drug formularies or star ratings?
- Not yet. It compares premium, maximum out-of-pocket, drug deductible and medical deductible. CMS adds 2027 star ratings to the Landscape file after its October release, and formularies vary by drug, so check those in a full quote.
- When can my client switch plans?
- During the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 through December 7, with the new plan starting January 1. Medicare Advantage members can also switch once during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, January 1 through March 31.
