How to present insurance quotes to clients (without screenshots)
By the QuoteDeck team · Updated · 2 min read
The short answer
Present two or three options, not every plan you quoted. Put them side by side with the monthly cost, what the client pays when they use the coverage, and the one or two details that matter to this client, such as their doctors or medications. Add your recommendation, combine related coverage into packages, and send it as one link the client can open on their phone.
Why screenshots and PDFs lose deals
Carrier screenshots and quoting-engine PDFs are built for agents, not clients. They use different layouts for every carrier, bury the numbers the client cares about, and are hard to read on a phone. A client who cannot compare options quickly does what people always do with a hard decision: they put it off.
What to include in every quote presentation
- Two or three options. More than that slows the decision. Keep the rest in reserve in case the client asks.
- The monthly premium, after any subsidy, shown the same way for every option.
- What the client pays when they use the coverage: deductible, copays and out-of-pocket maximum for health plans; benefit amount and tier for life and final expense.
- The details that are specific to this client: whether their doctors are in network, whether their prescriptions are covered, and any waiting periods.
- Your recommendation, with one sentence on why.
- A clear next step: reply, sign or book a call.
Present packages, not separate quotes
Clients do not think in product lines. They want to know what it costs to be covered. Combine the health plan with dental, vision or supplemental coverage, or the Medicare plan with final expense, into a package with one total. Offer a good, better and best package and most clients will pick one instead of shopping each line separately.
Deliver it as a link the client can open anywhere
- Send a link, not an attachment, so it opens cleanly on a phone.
- Walk through it on the call or video, then leave it with the client.
- Offer it in the client’s preferred language when you can.
- Know when it was opened, and follow up while it is fresh.
QuoteDeck was built for exactly this. Quote ACA, Medicare, life, final expense, dental, vision and supplemental plans, build good, better and best packages, and send one branded presentation in English or Spanish that your client can open on any device.
Frequently asked questions
How many insurance options should I show a client?
Two or three. More options slow the decision. Keep other quotes ready in case the client asks.
Should I send insurance quotes as a PDF?
A link that opens cleanly on a phone works better than a PDF attachment, especially when the quote combines several products.
What should an insurance proposal include?
The options side by side with monthly cost, what the client pays when they use the coverage, details specific to the client such as their doctors and medications, your recommendation, and a clear next step.
